One Page International Play Festival Submission Guidelines

Due to the resounding success of our “One Page International Play Festival” at last year’s Artomatic 419 festival of the arts, the Harvest Theatre of Toledo is seeking original play submissions for its “One Page International Play Festival (Holiday Edition)” to be performed as part of our regular season in rotating repertory with “Penny Penniworth” by Chris Weikel in the latter part of December, 2007. GUIDELINES: Plays must be no longer than one page in length, double-spaced, on any topic of the author’s choosing having to do with the December/January holiday season (i.e. Christmas, Hanakkuh, Kwaanza, New Year, Solstice, etc.) While monologues will be considered, preference will be given to plays with more than one character. 4 characters maximum per play. Authors may submit as many plays as they like. A committee of Harvest Theatre play-readers will choose the plays to be performed. MUSIC: In addition – we are adding a music element this year! We are accepting original holiday songs as well for production in our “One Page Play Fest”. Songs may be longer than one page! While we would love to discover the next “White Christmas” or “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, we would be just as happy with “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer”. A small honorarium will be awarded to plays and songs we choose to be performed as part of our production. Deadline for submissions is September 10th, 2007. One Page Guidelines can be found at www.harvesttheatre.com under the heading “2007-2008 Season”. Please submit plays to: Harvest Theatre One Page Play Festival P.O. Box 140323 Toledo, OH 43614-0323 or email to: info@harvesttheatre.com

Playwright's Forum Returning soon! Keep an eye on this spot!
|||||||||
The Playwright's Forum is Toledo's version of "The Algonquin Round Table" (only not as catty!). Playwrights (and those interested in writing for the stage) will be able to discuss their work amongst their peers in a no audience, pressure-free environment. The Playwrights Forum meets twice a month in an effort to encourage playwrights and playwriting in Toledo and NorthWest Ohio. The Playwright's Forum debuted on April 13th 2006 at the Collingwood Arts Center, and meets every two weeks on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm. It is open to all ages and accomplishment. Whether you have actually written anything or not. The only necessity you have to bring with you is your desire to write for the stage. Writers should be prepared by bringing an idea or outline of a story they would like to realize for the stage, or some scenes which they have written and are interested in bring in for discussion. Or both. At these early meetings we will address no more than 10 pages (or one scene of no more than 15 pages.) of an already written script. We want to assure that all who attend will have a chance to have their idea or work heard. If you would like to bring a scene from a full-length play (or perhaps just the first scene from what is to be your latest playwrighting project) or short play to be read at the Forum, please email the scene to Bill Quinlan (bq@harvesttheatre.com) and he will make copies for the next meeting. There will be no charge to be a member of the Playwright's Forum. It is free to any writer and those who aspire to writing for the stage. And while no fully realized script is guaranteed a production, any completed play of significant accomplishment will be given serious consideration by the Harvest Theatre of Toledo for inclusion in an upcoming season. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions or if you just want to let us know that you're interested in our project. If you are going to join us, please let us know that as well; It will help us plan ahead Contact: (419) 902-0608 or info@harvesttheatre.com More to come! Keep watching this space.
